Mr. Mohammad Amjad Hossain is a seasoned, talented lawyer in his own accord with strong legal acumen throughout his long, illustrious career, spanning more than two decades, before joining the Firm. His professional experience in handling major corporate clients and firms alike, for both civil and criminal-related matters, primarily pertaining to dispute resolution, renders him most suitable for the position as Head of Dispute Resolution Department of the Firm. Mr. Hossain is also a senior member of the Investment Department. He works from our Headquarters and oversees all lower court litigation-based matters of the firm, ranging from District Courts, Labour, Taxes, CEVT, Administrative Tribunals, etc. The Firm’s Dispute Resolution Department is ranked by Chambers and Partners 2026 Asia Pacific Guide. The editorial says: “Rahman’s Chambers houses a well-regarded litigation practice in Bangladesh…” In 2022, their editorial also added “One source states: ‘Their solution-based and customer-oriented approach is enormously helpful in reaching the best solution.’ Another client reports that the team is ‘very fast in taking the necessary steps.’”


Mr. Mohammad Amjad Hossain completed LL.B. (Hons) from the National University in 2001 and LLM from Prime University in 2009. He has also done his MBA in Human Resource Management from Uttara University in 2016. He is a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association since 2017 and also a member of Dhaka Bar Association and Dhaka Taxes Bar Association since 2005 and 2013 respectively. Despite being a recent addition to the Firm, he joins the Firm as Head of the Dispute Resolution Department along with being a senior member of the District & Magistrate Court Team, on the back of his significant expertise and knowledge in litigation and documentation-related matters. He is entrusted with managing other members of his department and team, whom he supervises along with conducting major hearings, drafting and court pleadings whenever deemed required. He works from the Headquarters of the Firm.
He heads the Dispute Resolution department, which is ranked under Dispute Resolution for two consecutive years.

Dispute Resolution
District Court
- Successfully represented our Client, a prominent apparel manufacturer, in a commercial dispute before the District Court by filing a suit under Section 7(A) of the Arbitration Act 2001 and submitting an early hearing petition to minimize commercial delays.
- Assisted and successfully represented our Clients in the apparel sector regarding contractual and lease-related disputes, filing requisite arbitration applications before the District Court to protect their commercial interests.
- Successfully represented our Client before the District Court for the enforcement of a judicial decree, efficiently filing and managing a Civil Execution Case to ensure the timely satisfaction of the decree.
- Successfully argued and represented Clients, who are successful auction purchasers, in defending their vested property rights acquired through Artha Rin Adalat proceedings against repeated legal challenges.
- Represented Client and effectively conducted a civil suit for declaration before the District Court aimed at correcting errors in the Dhaka City Jariph (survey), securing property rights in prime locations through the technical analysis of land titles and possession history.
- Successfully represented our Client in a high-stakes civil suit before the District Court to enforce property rights and prevent forceful eviction, seeking specific performance of sale contracts (Saf Kabala) and challenging a fraudulent Irrevocable Power of Attorney.
- Successfully represented our Client, a major international infrastructure company, in filing an execution case before the District Court to enforce a significant arbitral award against a local construction firm.
- Successfully filed an execution suit before the Learned District Court on behalf of our Client for the enforcement of a favorable arbitral award obtained under the Real Estate Development and Management Act, 2010.
- Successfully moved the District Court on behalf of our Clients (apparel companies and their directors) for the appointment of an arbitrator under Section 12 of the Arbitration Act 2001 in a high-stakes shareholder and corporate governance dispute.
Labour Court
- Successfully represented our Client; an individual employee, in filing a complaint under the Bangladesh Labour Act before the 1st Labour Court, Dhaka, challenging her illegal termination and implementing proactive litigation strategies to secure statutory compensation or reinstatement.
- Successfully represented our Client; a corporate entity, in defending against a labour suit filed by a former employee claiming outstanding dues, establishing that the dismissal strictly adhered to the Bangladesh Labour Act
- Successfully argued and represented our Client; a multinational corporate entity, in defending against a labour suit alleging forceful termination, successfully establishing that the employee voluntarily abandoned his employment without notice and substantiating the company’s regulatory compliance.
Investment Department
Land and Real Estate
- Conducted detailed due diligence and transactional advisory involving a major commercial building project at Chattogram.
- Advised a major Australian department store chain over a complex Building & Construction due diligence involving legal compliance with Building code, Fire Safety, etc. of a commercial building located at a prime location in Dhaka.
- Conducted complex Land Due Diligence involving transaction of USD $ 2 Million and for a major Chinese state-owned construction company for industrial lease.
- Assisted clients on M&A (land acquisition) in different locations as part of the EC4J project funded by the Government of Bangladesh and the World Bank.
- Represented high net worth clients in lower and higher judiciary involving disputes involving disputed heba deed, partition, demarcation and ownership of a multi-storied commercial building in a major location in Dhaka.
- Successfully handled complex disputes involving rights to receive rent by landowner, developer and lending bank of a commercial lease. The matter was litigated before the rent control tribunal and later appeal filed before the District judge court.
- Handled several cases arising from land acquisition cases for a public body and private clients.
- Advised and assisted a major MNC based in Hong Kong over disputes involving the purchase of 50+ acres of land subject to acquisition rights of the Ministry of Land.
- Assisted in the process of resolving disputes for several landowners against a renowned land developer involving delay in payment and construction of a commercial building at Gulshan Avenue.

A Head of Deparment is a partner-level position at Rahman’s Chambers. The person, in addition to being an experienced and accomplished member of his/her relevant Team, is also in charge of overseeing the work of the entire department, managing, handling, keep track of any/all legal affairs related to his/her department and also supervising the Associates of the Firm being assisted by (if any) Deputy Head within the same Department.
