About Rahman's Chambers

Rahman’s Chambers was founded by Mr. Mohammed Forrukh Rahman in 2006 following his family tradition that dates back to 1920s all the way to his grandfather, late Mr. Shamsuddin Ahmed.

Mr. Ahmed graduated from Calcutta University in 1924, was awarded by Bangladesh Bar Council for completion of 50 years of practice life in 2003. Mr. A. M. Mustakimur Rahman (father), a tax lawyer, also followed the same legacy, who is presently associated with this firm as senior tax consultant.

Mr. Mohammed Forrukh Rahman, after completing LLB and Bar-at-Law from the U.K. in 2003, worked with Mr. Ajmalul Hossain KC, Senior Advocate of A Hossain & Associates as a pupil and later as an associate till 2006. At the end of the year 2006, Mr. Rahman joined his family practice under independent name and title i.e. M/s Rahman’s Chambers.

Practice Guide-General 

There was no law firm in Bangladesh which served nationwide as well as covered cross-border, international works. To fill the vacuum,  Rahman’s Chambers from very inception decided to grow nationwide as a full service law firm catering the need of local and international clients. Rahman’s Chambers maintains gender diversity, equal opportunity policy and is fully compliant with the local employment laws. It never compromise with the professional standard set by the regulatory bodies within which it operates  and also maintains a very high ethical standard. 

In the early days Chambers practice area was limited to banking, corporate advisory, banking litigation and investment legal services. As the firm grew larger its practice areas expanded to commercial, power, investment, taxation, admiralty, shipping areas.

The firm has now grown into a full service law firm capable of catering to the needs of the business community. The lawyers divided into departments, teams, work in various capacity and also appear in different forums e.g. High court, judges court, arbitration with a view to protect the best interest of clients at all times. Few young lawyers who joined the firm as interns and associates in last 15 years have gained multiple skills and expertise in different areas of laws and are now leading different departments and teams.

In last sixteen years, the firm grew organically in all dimensions from a boutique law firm to a large full service law firm comprising of 17 lawyers and equal number of management and support staffs and serving from five different locations in Dhaka, Chittagong and Dinajpur with 31 practice areas under 9 departments. It is the most nationally diversified legal service provider in Bangladesh. It has an International division composed of lawyers specialized in cross border and international works providing premium solutions to international clients.

Rahman’s Chambers has an outstanding reputation for delivering premium solutions which are economic in commercial terms.  The same is made possible by utilizing its resources i.e. experienced, specialised and highly educated senior lawyers, talented junior lawyers graduated from top law schools, excellent operational model, prestigious and valuable print and online law report and journal, strong network and geographical locations etc. The firm has been consistently ranked by world’s leading and highly reputed global directory Chambers and Partners in its Chambers Global guide for its international capability & Chambers Asia Pacific guide for its local and regional works.

The Chambers have a compliant HR policy and policy on gender diversity in the workplace. It has a rich library with a mixture of print and online resources while most major local and international law reports are in original print format.

The Chambers were originally located in Motijheel, Dhaka in 2006. Later it was shifted to Kakrail, Dhaka in 2013 to support the work of High Court as a Branch while the main Chambers was opened in Banani, Dhaka.

Gulshan office and Chittagong office were opened around the same time.  Dinajpur Branch was opened in 2019. Banani operations was relocated to a hub & more central, commercial location at Kemal Ataturk Avenue, Banani Commercial Area and the nearby office at Gulshan was closed in 2020.

After a room is allocated to us by Supreme Court Bar Association within the SCBA Building in Supreme Court in 2021, the Kakrail office was again moved to Motijheel C/A in 2022. In the same year, Chittagong office is relocated to a hub and more central location at Agrabad Commercial Area.

Rahman’s Chambers maintains a strong local and international network with users and peers as follows: (a) through its membership with different local and international Chambers of Commerce, trade bodies; (b) by signing non-exclusive cooperation agreement with leading law firms; (c) though individual membership of its lawyers’ with different institutes, associations and (d) honorary position held by lawyers in different Committees e.g. ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, Paris. Networking keeps us updated with the recent developments.

Mr. Shamsuddin Ahmed left behind a legacy of honesty, punctuality, hard work, dedication, and compassion. The Chambers carrying on the said legacy.
