Ms. Shahinoor Alam as a regular practitioner of high court tremendously contribute to the ability of the Chambers in resolving disputes. She assisted in disposing several cases on judicial review, revision, appeal, taxation references etc. She works from our Supreme Court Bar Association room and is Deputy Head of our Dispute Resolution Department, which is ranked by Chambers and Partners 2023 Asia Pacific Guide. Mrs. Shahinoor Alam completed her LLB and LLM from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, in the year 2002 and 2003 respectively. She is a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association for more than 10 years and the Dhaka Bar Association for more than 18 years. She joined the Chambers first in 2010 and worked for two years. She again joined the firm in 2022. Ms. Alam is the Deputy Head of the Dispute Resolution department along with being a Senior Associate and a Senior member of our Supreme Court Team. She is in charge of handling the appeal, revision etc to the High court arising from the judgement/order of the district court involving both criminal and civil cases. She works from our Supreme Court Bar Association office. Besides her regular role, she also efficiently and competently assist the Chambers in managing the affairs of the SCBA branch, as SCBA exec.

Dispute Resolution
- Successfully represented our Client; a prominent operator and distributor of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for both retail and commercial consumers, in filing a Writ Petition before the Hon’ble High Court against an impugned order by the Learned Taxes Appellate Tribunal based on the revised and reduced tax liability determined the Commissioner of Tax (Appeal).
- Assisted and successfully represented our Client, a prominent leading apparel manufacturing company in Bangladesh before the Hon’ble High Court for a complex customs dispute regarding reassessment of a Customs Order issued by Dhaka Customs, which had assigned separate values and HS Codes to imported machinery.
- Successfully argued and represented Client; Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) in several Writ Petitions in the Hon’ble Hight Court, against allegations concerning the disconnection of customer’s electricity lines for tempering the electric meter and taking administrative action against its employees, without lawful authority and in violation of established procedures.
- Represented Clients and successfully argued before the Hon’ble High Court, who are Assistant Teachers of a high school in Jashore, challenging the unlawful reduction of their monthly salaries and the directive to deposit the additional money they had previously received.
- Successfully represented Client, a leading Real Estate Development company in Bangladesh in filing appeal before the Hon’ble High Court challenging an impugned order passed by a Chattogram court involving mortgage of a scheduled property and availed credit facilities (loan) of Tk. 4,50,00,000/- from a scheduled bank in Bangladesh.
- Successfully argued before Hon’ble court in protecting promotional rights of two dozen employees of a statutory corporation. The Hon’ble court was kind enough to issue rule and stay the operation of the impugned circular for direct recruitment.
- Conducted hearing effectively of a number of writ arising out of customs disputes for a number of companies
- Conducted hearing of complex land related revision/appeal arising from district and tribunals for individual clients.
- Assisted in High court in several cases involving banking, taxation, commercial matters.
