Senior Associate, Deputy Head of International Department (Arbitration)


Ms. Kamrunnaher, despite being a relatively new addition to the Chambers since 2022, has been impressive with her work ethic and professionalism and has been successful so far, in handling the responsibilities and deadlines her post at the Firm so requires. She has been involved in various legal research works, analysis, and pleading drafting involving several litigations pending in District and magistrate court and High court involving financial crime, banking recovery. She is also in charge of maintaining court schedules, updating and maintaining liaisons with clients and senior colleagues on district court matters. She works from our Headquarters. 

Ms. Kamrunnaher is also a member of International Department which is ranked under Dispute Resolution by  Chambers and Partners 2023 Asia Pacific Guide. The editorial says:  “Rahman’s Chambers houses a well-regarded litigation practice in Bangladesh…” In 2022, their editorial also added “One source states: ‘Their solution-based and customer-oriented approach is enormously helpful in reaching the best solution.’ Another client reports that the team is ‘very fast in taking the necessary steps”.

Ms. Kamrunnaher completed LLB from Premier University, Chattogram  & LLM from Premier University, Chattogram. She joined the Chambers in 2022 and is a Member of the International Department and member of the ADR, Land & Tribunal team as an Senior Associate lawyer of the Firm. Before joining the Chambers, She has some prior experience working in the legal arena and also has experience in the management and photography sector. Her International department is ranked under Chambers and Partners.

Dispute Resolution 

As a member of the Dispute Resolution Department, she was actively involved in the following works:

  • Assisted and represented client in an arbitration proceeding involving real estate disputes concerning the construction of a multistoried residential building project located in a prime area of Bangladesh.
  • Successfully represented Client in an arbitration proceeding involving the construction of a multistoried building arising from a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) and its termination for failing to discharge its contractual obligations as per stipulations in the contract.
  • Successfully argued and represented Client a prominent textile and apparel company, in securing a decree for the recovery of outstanding dues over significant unpaid amounts of debts arising from unfulfilled contractual obligations of the debtor.
  • Acted on a Public Nuisance case involving howling, barking, and creating noise by a German Shepherd and a Labrador in an apartment at Banani. The dogs are territorial by nature, huge in size; and have lots of energy and are not suitable for apartment living.
  • Advised and worked in the pleadings involving writ petition involving several clients over Banking and Finance matters.
  • Advised and worked in the pleadings involving Saturn Textiles Ltd, in a matter related to fraudulent L/C documentation.
  • Advised and worked in the pleadings involving Maersk Bangladesh Ltd in a title suit pending before District Court Dhaka.
  • Advised and worked in the pleadings involving cheque dishour, several misappropriation and fraudulent related cases under penal code for a local garments company.

International (Arbitration – Shipping)

As a member of the Firm’s International Department, she was actively involved in the following works:

  • Successfully assisted and represented client; a UAE-based leading ocean shipping and logistics company with strong commercial strongholds in Yemen, India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, and Kenya in a complex international arbitration involving the wrongful termination of a charter party and the unreasonable withdrawal of the vessel M.V. A Daisen by its owner during the subsistence of the Charterparty and claims of losses and damages arising from the breach.
  • Successfully represented and assisted client, a UAE-based leading ocean shipping and logistics company in a complex dispute by way of invoking international arbitration proceedings under the London Maritime Arbitration Association (LMAA) rule seated in London, involving the charterer and the vessel owner regarding the payment of war risk premiums and bunker charges for the said vessel namely M.V. Lobivia.
  • Successfully argued and represented client; a reputed global shipping and logistics solutions based in the UAE in an international arbitration proceeding under the London Maritime Arbitration Association (LMAA) rule, seated in London involving allegations of a breach of the charter party and withdrawal of the vessel M.V. Thorswind.

As a member of district & magistrate court team, she was involvedly in the following works:

  • Assisted the client with his Wasiyat Nama (Written Will) by initiating the process of filing for Probate of the said wasiyat nama in the local court where the land is located.
  • Acquisition of land-related disputes involving a Japanese client at Adamjee Export Processing Zone.
  • Wrote a chapter of a research project on Business Laws of Bangladesh for Union Resources & Engineering Company.
  • Maintaining court schedule and liaison with clients
