Ms. Tanzina Sharmee, Advocate Supreme Court of Bangladesh, have significant expertise in the area of Shipping and dispute resolution. - Successfully acted and represented our client Quantum Suisse Capital AG on various issues related to the release procedure of their vessel following sale and export out of Bangladesh.
- Successfully acted and advised our client Tehama Shipping Services Co. L.L.C in a wrongful arrest of a ship, namely M.V. T** Am*** in Karachi, Pakistan.
- Successfully advised our client Sea Green Law regarding the liability of a Time Charterers in default of their Sub-Time Charterer to pay the outstanding claim of a bunker supplier concerning an ongoing Admiralty Suit filed by the bunker supplier against the Vessel M.V Ca***in ****eris. Also advised regarding the prospects of being able to challenge such claim and Probable Time and cost estimate to be taken to contest such suit, chances to ask cost from the Plaintiff and feasibility to recover such costs from them, applicability of the concept of wrongful arrest in Bangladesh, and also overall Admiralty procedure of Bangladesh.
- Successfully advised client ASL Bulk Marine Ltd, on various issues related to the wrongful arrest of ship, liability of a Time Charterer, legal feasibility issues, etc.
- Was involved with the admiralty suit filed for Hapag-Lloyd, in a dispute arising out of an allision with a gantry crane of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA). The matter was particularly complex as the CPA exercised its statutory power to claim loss & damages and the same has been challenged before the Hon’ble Admiralty Court successfully and the vessel was released on furnishing of security instead of paying in full & final satisfaction of the claim raised by CPA
- Assistance provided for successful arresting of a container vessel at Chittagong port berthing for its alleged involvement with causing damage to a Fire Truck imported for CAAB for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka due to negligent discharge operation.
- Was involved with the admiralty suit for Integr8 Fuels Inc, U.K. for breach of terms for the supply of Bunker quality against the local supplier.
- Advised client on salvage operation in Chittagong port.
- Was involved with the admiralty suit filed by OOCL for recovering freight and charges related dues from a local shipper.
Dispute Resolution
- Successfully argued before Artha Rin, District judge Chittagong in several cases involving banking matters.
- Successfully argued before several Chittagong courts in several cases involving international trade matters, rent control etc.
- We are acting as legal counsel for M/S Saba Feeder Shipping Services LLC in a complex matter involving the wrongful termination of a charter party by the vessel owner. Our client, the charterer under the charter party, is currently pursuing the matter, which remains pending before the Arbitral Tribunal.
- We represent M/S Saba Feeder Shipping Services LLC as legal counsel in a complex dispute involving the wrongful termination of a charter party and the unreasonable withdrawal of the vessel by the owner during the charter party period. Our client, as the charterer of the vessel, has initiated arbitration proceedings against the owner for breach of the charter party. Currently, we have presented the claim on behalf of our client before the Tribunal.
